Big things are happening on W Cass Street, and we're excited to be part of it!
After more than a decade of planning and development, Tampa's Green Spine Cycle Track is officially complete! This exciting milestone marks a major step toward creating a safer, more connected, and more accessible city for residents and visitors alike.
We had the honor of hosting the City of Tampa's official Green Spine completion press conference right here at Urban Jungalow, welcoming Mayor Jane Castor, city leaders, and community members to celebrate this exciting addition to our neighborhood.
What is Tampa’s Green Spine?
The Green Spine is an approximately 3.5-mile, two-way protected bike route connecting some of Tampa's most vibrant neighborhoods, including North Hyde Park, Downtown Tampa, Ybor City, and East Tampa.
Designed with safety and accessibility in mind, the route features dedicated bike lanes separated from vehicle traffic, making it easier and more comfortable for cyclists to travel between neighborhoods.
The final stretch along W Cass Street, between N Howard Avenue and N Rome Avenue, was completed in September 2026, marking a major milestone for the project.
Connecting Communities, Supporting Local Businesses
The Green Spine is about so much more than bike lanes. It's about creating a more connected Tampa.
By making it easier to travel between neighborhoods, the Green Spine encourages residents and visitors to get outside, explore new areas, and discover local businesses along the way.
The completed route offers several benefits to the community:
Safer streets: Protected bike lanes create a more comfortable experience for cyclists.
Better connectivity: Linking neighborhoods across Tampa, including connections to the West Riverwalk Extension.
Active lifestyles: Encouraging biking, outdoor activity, and alternative transportation.
Local business support: Creating more opportunities for people to explore neighborhood cafés, shops, and destinations.
For businesses along W Cass Street, including Urban Jungalow, we're excited to see how this new connection continues to bring people together and introduce more visitors to our growing neighborhood.
Celebrating the Green Spine at Urban Jungalow
We were honored to welcome Tampa Mayor Jane Castor to Urban Jungalow for the official Green Spine completion press conference.
Mayor Castor spoke at the event, celebrating the completion of this long-awaited project and what it means for Tampa's continued growth and connectivity.
Following the press conference, Mayor Castor also stayed to dine at Urban Jungalow and try our gluten-free bagels!
As a neighborhood café rooted in wellness, community, and connection, it was especially meaningful to host an event celebrating a project that encourages people to get outside, stay active, and explore everything Tampa has to offer.
We're proud to be part of the growing Cass United District and excited to see the continued transformation of W Cass Street.
